A town that changes with the calendar

Only about four in every ten homes in Dénia are lived in all year round, according to a University of Alicante housing study presented to the town hall. The rest are second homes and holiday lets, and more than 5,000 of them are registered for tourist use.

So the work changes with the months. In July the Bous a la Mar fill the port, and from the end of July to mid-August the Moros i Cristians parades pack Marqués de Campo: guests who cannot get into a holiday let, keys lost in a crowd. From October, houses shut until spring, and the calls are about locks that seize in an empty house and doors forced while nobody was there.

The line is answered 24 hours a day, all year. Planned jobs, such as a lock change or a new cylinder for the season, are booked for a time that suits you.

Before you ring

Can you make me a copy of my key?

No. This business does not cut, copy or supply keys of any kind, and it does not make or program car keys. It opens, repairs and replaces locks. For a copy of a key, a key-cutting counter is the right place.

Will somebody answer if I ring at three in the morning?

Yes. The phone is picked up 24 hours a day, every day of the year, and lockouts, door opening and car lockouts are attended at any hour. Being reachable at night is not the same as being at your door in ten minutes, so you get an honest estimate for your address and the time you call.

How do I know what it will cost?

It depends on the door, the lock, where you are and the hour, so no prices are published here. The price is explained before any work starts. Payment is by cash, card or Bizum.

I am renting the flat. Will you still open it?

Yes, once you can show you live there: a rental contract, a booking confirmation, an ID with the address, or the owner or the agency confirming it by phone. Nobody’s door is opened on their word alone, including yours.

Do you come out to Xàbia, Pedreguer or Pego?

Yes. The work is based in Dénia and covers the other 32 towns of the Marina Alta as well, from Els Poblets and El Verger to the villages of the Vall de Gallinera.
